BREWERY RECORDS LABEL INFO
The Mission The Brewery Records label is committed to releasing albums by artists who demonstrate a flair for creating music that sounds great today and will sound just as good 10 years down the line. Basically, we like good shit!. The label is not genre specific but does have a soft spot for pop, country, alt-country, rock and folk. Most releases on the label are from artists who record with Walter Clevenger at Brewery Records Studio in Costa Mesa, CA. The Birth The label was established in 1995 by Walter Clevenger with the release of his cassette-only album PoPgOeStHeMuSiC. After two albums on the Permanent Press label (The Man with the X-ray Eyes and Love Songs To Myself), Walter Clevenger & his band, The Dairy Kings, went back to self-releasing music on the Brewery Records imprint. The first release to revive the label was the 8-song sampler of upcoming projects entitled, Around The Corner… (released in 2002). This was followed the next year by the release of the band’s third full-length album, Full Tilt & Swing. Both releases, distributed nationally by Burnside Distribution Corp., garnered impressive reviews and generated momentum for the Brewery Records label. The Growth After recording and producing several projects, Clevenger decided it was time to put the recognition Brewery Records had been receiving to good use the time seemed right to begin releasing other artists on the label. Clevenger figured the label could be a great outlet for the projects he produced in his recording studio. To kick the label expansion off with a bang, he decided to assemble a roster of artists to pay homage to one of his musical heroes, Nick Lowe. The team of musicians included a handful of artists who had previously recorded at Brewery Records Studio as well as several of his friends from around the globe. Released in 2005, the result was LOWE PROFILE: A Tribute To Nick Lowe, a two-disc, thirty-track tribute to “The Jesus of Cool” that is guaranteed to knock you on your ass! The Future The first 2006 release on Brewery Records will be by the Orange County band, The Tickets. This album, with vocals by LOWE PROFILE contributing artist Bryan Shaddix, is sure to satisfy fans of Squeeze and Rockpile. Other upcoming releases include a full-length album by another LOWE PROFILE contributor, Tipsy Jack, and the debut solo release by Bryan Shaddix. Brewery Records will also continue to be the home for all releases by Walter Clevenger & The Dairy Kings. Due to the size of the label, it is extremely difficult to release unsolicited material - this isn’t to say, however, that it can’t happen. If you think you have an album that would fit snuggly in the Brewery Records family, feel free to drop us a line and we’ll let you know where to send it.
