What the critics are saying:

4 out of 5 Stars! "Clevenger assembled 30 stalwarts from the underground pop/roots realm, constructing a consistently engaging collection. Drawing on the pathos, playfulness and elasticity in Lowe's underrated catalog, tracks range from bluegrass ditties to garage roars" - UNCUT

One of the best albums of 2005 - Rick Cornell, No Depression

"A set that stands on its own as one of the best records of the year while serving as a loving nod to the man we call "Basher" - Amplifier Magazine

4 out of 5 Stars! "While Lowe Profile: A Tribute to Nick Lowe isn't the first Nick Lowe tribute album, it certainly outclasses 2001's Labour of Love: The Music of Nick Lowe, largely thanks to its lineup of contributors. This isn't a bunch of slapped-together covers, but a heartfelt tribute to a musician whose talent and attitude has made a real impact among people who love music." - All Music Guide

"Ambitious in scope (30 songs split over two CDs), the tracks are sincere, well produced and representative of the breadth of the Basher's impressive career." - Harp Magazine

"Over the past year and a half, Clevenger has gathered tracks from some of the most critically acclaimed artists out there today. A very good [tribute album], befitting Nick Lowe, Clevenger and all of the talented artists involved. Get this right away and hopefully Lowe will feel the love and put out another great album of his own soon!" - Amps 11

"The result is a rockin' little record you'll want your jockey to play. On some tribute albums, the performers try to show how hip they are by rendering the songs unrecognizable. On others, they hone so close to the original versions that it sounds more like counterfeiting than a tribute. On Lowe Profile, most of the artists don't stray far from the near-perfection of Lowe's renditions, but they still infuse the tracks with their own personalities -[James] Intveld's soulful take on "Lonesome Reverie" being a standout example of that." - The OC Weekly

"Lowe Profile, a two-CD tribute, spotlights Lowe's songwriting chops from his days with the band Brinsley Schwartz to his most recent countrified recordings. The approaches range from the heartfelt to the smart-alecky. If you only know Lowe for "Cruel to Be Kind" or "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding," this set will raise Lowe's profile." - The Warren Reporter
